Having a plan is crucial to your business’ success. It’s not always the most exciting part of starting your business but having a well-formulated business plan is an integral part of your company’s success. A business plan gets the visions and goals of your activity on paper and is also necessary for attracting investors.

Many resources will ease this process for you. We’ve listed five business plan templates. Look them over and see which best fits your business type. These will get your business up and running or refresh the plan you have for new investors.

U.S. Small Business Administration: For Startups

If you’re looking to create a well-rounded business plan, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) (https://www.sba.gov/tools/business-plan/1 ) offers some great tools. Be warned, developing a business plan may not be finished in one sitting. It’s quite a long process. Taking your time is recommended – this is a journey, not a sprint.

The $100 Startup: Easy to Use and Straightforward

The $100 Startup plan is better for those who are not seeking funding but need to get their ideas on paper and develop a functional plan. For this purpose, the template doesn’t need to be anything complicated. The $100 Startup (http://100startup.com/#resources), is named after the best-selling book, which offers a one-page business plan template. Unlike the USSBA template, the $100 Startup only takes minutes to complete.

LawDepot: For Specific Industries

The LawDepot (https://www.lawdepot.com/contracts/business-plan/) is for a specific industry. It’s free, simple, and user-friendly as it guides you through the process step-by-step. An added benefit to this plan is that it allows you to tailor your plan based on your industry.
